Residenza Alle città d’Italia

Chiavenna

The construction of the building in Chiavenna dates back to the 16th century. In the mid-1900s it was home to the store Alle città d’Italia, which took the name of the historical store Aux villes d’Italie set up by Ferdinando Bocconi in 1877. The store was an expression of the department store concept, extended over five floors and had escalators to facilitate the flow of people from one floor to another.

Renovations to create a store on only two floors and to build three floors of apartments for residential and office use began in 2007.

The exterior structure of the building was not changed and the original façade was maintained and valorized.

The apartments were provided with high quality finishes such as highly insulated wooden windows and doors, stone and natural wood floors, and Beola stone bathrooms.
